Teaching is central to my academic career. As a Lecturer of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at Columbus State Community College, I teach mathematics and statistics while fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. My goal is to help students develop conceptual understanding, quantitative reasoning, and confidence in solving real-world problems using mathematics and statistics.
My teaching emphasizes active learning, structured problem solving, collaborative engagement, and the thoughtful integration of technology. My research in Bayesian, computational, and multivariate statistics also informs my teaching, particularly through the use of authentic data, statistical computing, and applications that demonstrate how statistical methods address complex scientific problems.

Helping students develop strong foundations by emphasizing underlying concepts alongside computational techniques and encouraging them to understand not only how statistical and mathematical methods work, but why they work.
Encouraging participation through guided practice, collaborative activities, classroom discussions, and problem-solving exercises that allow students to engage directly with quantitative ideas.
Incorporating calculators, spreadsheets, statistical software, and learning-management systems to enhance learning and build practical computational skills.
Providing timely feedback, individualized guidance, academic mentoring, and accessible learning resources to support students with varied levels of preparation while maintaining high academic expectations.
I strive to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, engaging with their peers, and developing confidence in mathematics and statistics.
My research also informs my teaching by providing opportunities to connect statistical theory with contemporary applications in biomedical, biological, and data-intensive sciences. Where appropriate, I use authentic data and computational examples to illustrate how statistical reasoning contributes to scientific discovery and evidence-based decision-making.
